Must Have for ATLS

Purchased used. Arrived in Like New Condition. ATLS app had not been activated by previous owner so I was able download and sign in on my iPad. Lots of material. Numerous references at the end of chapters for additional study. Bright readable text with pleasing layout.
I'm a registered nurse who wishes to pass the ATLS exam and get the certification, its needed for a position I want to apply to next year. I'm finding that ATLS courses usually have long waiting lists to attend especially if the course is at another institution than your own. The manuals are usually not sent out until a few weeks be fore the course. I wanted to have longer to prepare. There is a new text provided with the course and I will sell it online after the course.

Required reading for ATLS course

Text (9th ed) was generally as expected. Purchased from Amazon Marketplace in Very Good condition. Required for ATLS provider course. Covers all topics required to successfully complete the ATLS course. I feel future editions should provide more examples of imaging, triage scenarios, and re-write their procedures sections. All in all, it does the job.

This book arrived used, but in good condition as described by the seller. Overall, the book is a good resource for trauma. I am a Nurse, in an Emergency Nurse Practitioner program. The book is a great resource for providers working in a trauma setting.

Decent Embryo book

This is a decent review but that is it. If your trying to learn any of the topics for the first time I would suggest Langmans. I've only really read 2 chapters and there has been a few typos. If you haven't read langman's or have a very strong background in embryo this book is probably not for you.

The book is very simplistic and meant as a quick overview of embryological development. I find myself frequently consulting a textbook for clarification, but the book does provide a good, quick review of the high yield concepts in embryology.

Kimball Group's last book doesn't disappoint

I've enjoyed reading the Kimball Group's design tips on their site for years. As a wonderful parting shot before retiring the group, all those nuggets have been collected and conformed into this wonderful anthology. The last chapter is particularly rewarding to read, as it consists of one final article from each of the four surviving members. They don't disappoint!

About the Author
Joel Fuhrman M.D. is a board-certified family physician, best-selling author and nutritional researcher who specializes in preventing and reversing disease through nutritional and natural methods. As one of the country's leading experts on nutrition and natural healing, Dr. Fuhrman has appeared on hundreds of radio and television shows including: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, Today, Good Morning America, the Discovery Channel, TV Food Network, and The Dr. Oz Show. His own PBS television show, "3 Steps to Incredible Health", began airing nationwide in June 2011.

His best-selling book, Eat to Live, published in 2003 (Little Brown) has gone through over 20 printings and been published in multiple foreign language editions. Dr. Fuhrman is actively involved in scientific research in human nutrition. Dr. Fuhrman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (1988).

As a former world class figure skater, he placed second in the United States National Pairs Championships in 1973. Dr. Fuhrman has been involved professionally with sports medical committees, advised professional and Olympic athletes, and lectured to athletic trainers and world-class athletes for maximizing performance and preventing injury.

Great Book - Helped Crohn's Disease

Praise God for Dr. Fuhrman's work and his texts on nutrition and health! Having been diagnosed with Crohn's disease for nearly 6 years and taking the medication the doctors told me to, was still having occasional problems and left wondering if this was how I was going to have to live for the rest of my life. I had read in the Bible that fasting is a valuable spiritual discipline and can be used to draw one closer to God by finding in Him a source of spiritual nutrition and strength available nowhere else. (Not to mention that Jesus gave His disciples instructions on how to fast when they did - expecting them to after His departure.) I had even experienced this. However, after being told by my doctor and others how important it was to keep my weight at a healthy level I decided that fasting my not be a good idea, since I didn't want to get even thinner. Well, I should have had greater faith :(

It was remarkable what even a short 1 day (and later 2 day) fast did for my digestive health. The rest from digestion improved how I felt very quickly and the improvement lasted. I have also read Eat for Health and implemented many of those concepts into my life and God has blessed me substantially. I am no longer taking medication at all - no asthma medicine (taken since I was 10 years old), and no Crohn's medication!

Definitely recommend this book.

GREAT BOOK

I wish Dr. Fuhrman work was a prerequisite for middle and high school, college students. What if this book and all of his other books were Regents classes that you actually had to pass, what would be available to our children. Most importantly, what future could we all live into that would make a difference for every aspect of the planet. What if when we went to the doctor, the first question they asked is what have you been eating, when is the last time you fasted, or do a 30-day colon cleanse in addition only eat raw vegetables during this time, how much medication would anyone be taking, how many aches and pains would people complain about, and how much more peace we can have in accepting our differences

Outdated advice confirmed by Dr. Fuhrman's office

I believe Eat to Live taught me more about nutrition than any other book besides How Not to Die by Greger. So I thought, ok, fasting might be the next step, and bought this book. I wrote to Dr. Fuhrman's office to ask a few questions that came up for me. This was the response I got:

"While Dr. Fuhrman says that fasting may be beneficial for certain medical conditions such as autoimmune diseases, since he wrote Fasting and Eating for Health in 1995, there have been research advancements in the field of nutritional science pointing to the healing effects of a plant-based, nutrient-rich eating style. After careful review of thousands of nutritional research studies, Dr. Fuhrman teaches that commitment to his nutritarian eating program will provide the same health benefits of fasting. The difference is that fasting provides only short-term results, while commitment to eating nutrient-rich, plant-based foods gives long-term results. Consult your local physician before beginning any fast."

Then why is this book still for sale with no commentary in the foreword or introduction, an update that says, hey, this is old information? It would still be interesting, but then you would know that it's purpose was more to understand Fuhrman's approach in the 90s.

The short of it: the book is interesting, but you're going to get outdated info.

This is the UK Version of the Great Barnhart Dictionary

As noted, this is the Barnhart Dictionary, published by Chambers. The US version of this classic is now priced at over $60 - so this British re-release is a real bargain. One of the best modern etymology references available, clear, concise and definitive. IMHO, its better organized then the Oxford, and more authoritative than all but Pkorny's great $1,000 work on the etymology of all IndoEuropean languages. Highly recommended.

Wonderful reference and great value!

This volume is a "must-have" for readers, scholars, and absolutely any person interested in words and their origins/history. The book is rather heavy and thick but is otherwise extremely user-friendly and a great "browser" as well as an essential companion to any ordinary dictionary.
I should note that this edition, although a British re-publication of its famous US version, retains American spelling and keeps its focus on American sources while utilizing the best of all English references, regardless of country of origin.
Regarding physical quality, the book has a signature-sewn binding, meaning that it is not merely held together by glue but that its pages are actually sewn with real thread... quite a treat in today's disposable society. Thus, with reasonable care, this tome should last a lifetime and beyond!

This is an excellent survey of the New Testament and helps a lot as I study through the New Testament. I love his charts and his overall explanations but he really teaches you how to study the Bible yourself

For the serious Bible student

If you want to study the New Testament, all you need is this book and a Bible and you are set to go. Jensen's methods are sound and often taught by other teachers because the technique works. If you are ready to commit to some real spiritual growth, this book is one of the better ways to begin.

Pls improve the quality of the scanned charts

It's a very good material, but the quality of the work put in this ebook isn't worth it. The pictures or charts are very hard to see and I am a nearsighted guy!. Pls improve the graphics of the material and I will give you a good review. Thank you
